By bus & train – from the Hofgut you can be in the centre of Salzburg in around 90 minutes. The train from St. Johann or Radstadt takes you directly to the centre.
With your guest card, which includes the Guest Mobility Ticket, you can use public transport throughout the province of Salzburg free of charge.

City, fortress, Mozart & natural wonders: a classic Salzburg day for families

The city of Salzburg is easily accessible from Wagrain and is ideal for a varied day trip with children – full of culture, exciting experiences and unforgettable impressions.

Take the fortress railway up to Hohensalzburg, where an impressive view and exciting exhibitions await you. Back in the city, head straight to the famous Getreidegasse – charming, steeped in history and full of surprises. Here you visit Mozart’s birthplace, which is designed to be interactive and suitable for children – with a mini violin, lots of multimedia discoveries and fascinating insights into the life of the musical genius.

For your lunch break, enjoy regional cuisine in the Stiegl cellar with a view of the old town before diving into the Haus der Natur in the afternoon. Whether dinosaurs, outer space or living reptiles – science becomes an adventure here. The day ends with a walk through Mirabell Gardens, an ice cream on Mozartplatz and perhaps a detour to the playground in the Kurgarten.

A day that impressively combines knowledge, culture and family time together – in the centre of Salzburg’s historic old town and surrounded by unique flair and impressive history.

Animals, water games & boat trip: Adventures around Hellbrunn

A day at Hellbrunn is perfect for little explorers: in the morning, the famous water games at the palace provide plenty of fun – refreshing, surprising and ideal for warm days. Right next door, Salzburg Zoo awaits with over 1,200 animals in a natural setting.

For refreshments, you can enjoy a picnic in the park or at the Imlauer Sky – Bar & Restaurant. In the afternoon, the Salzach boat ‘Amadeus’ takes you back to the old town in a relaxed manner – a trip that will delight young and old alike.

Finish off with an ice cream on Kapitelplatz or a short stop in the Kurgarten – and the day is perfect.

Culture & creativity: A playful stroll through the city with children

This day shows Salzburg from its creative side: It starts in the lovingly designed Toy Museum – with historical toys, slides and crafting fun. Afterwards, the Afro Café or 220Grad invite you to take a relaxing family break.

In the afternoon, continue on to the Marionette Museum or through the festival theatre district – hands-on culture for young and old. The Volksgarten playground or, in summer, the fountain on Mirabellplatz are the perfect places to let off steam.

The M32 on Mönchsberg offers the perfect end to the day – with dinner and a marvellous view over the city.
